Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL took his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR in Week 7 action.

The victory gave the 13-year-old driver sole possession of the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger. Skinner is also 12th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 192 points, but he has the third highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings.

Meanwhile, series points leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS continued his winning ways in by driving the Strength Center Special to his fifth victory of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Arnold now has 290 points and a four point lead over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS.

Arnold has five wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight races over six weeks of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition. Lee has 286 points after one win and eight top five finishes in eight races over six weeks. Lee finished fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Special to his second win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to remain third in the standings with 277 points. Daspit has two wins, three top five finishes, and five top ten finishes in six races over six weeks of competition.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS is fourth in the series standings with 241 points after one win, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven races over five weeks of competition. Williams drove the Cliff Williams Plumbing GRT to a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

Arnold has the highest Weekly Point Average among the Top 20 drivers in the series point standings at 48.33 out of a possible 50, and Williams has the second highest WPA at 48.20. The WPA is a driver’s total points divided by the number of weeks that driver has competed.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is fifth in the standings with 234 points after one win, four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races over six weeks of competition. Keeton drove the Byram Trucking GRT to a tenth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL finished fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Three Trade Consultants Special to hold the sixth spot in the standings with 232 points. Joiner, who also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings, has one win and four top five finishes in five races.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is seventh in the standings with 216 points after one top five finish and three top ten finishes in six races over five weeks of competition. Scarbrough finished 12th on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Villa South Trak-Star.

Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS finished ninth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in the Tophen’s Rock and Roll Grill Special and moved up to ninth with 214 points. Kouhout has four top ten finishes in five races.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS is ninth in with 213 points after one top five finish in five races. Thrash drove the McDevitt Enterprises GRT to a 17th-place finish in Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS rounds out the top ten in the standings with 205 points driving the SMJ Race Parts Trak-Star.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 7 action, Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the MP Trucking Special to his second straight win on Friday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Casey Haney of Meridian, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Davidson Hauling Special.

Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS topped a 31-car field for the victory on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Ellis Welding Special. Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX did not report their Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 7 results.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Series Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR still leads the Chassis standings with three wins this season. The defending and three-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL, Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN are in a three-way tie for second with two wins apiece. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.

After the first 7 weeks of the 2015 season, a total of 202 different drivers have earned NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series points.
