As has been said many times before, no matter who is flagged the winner, a race truly isn’t over until everyone has passed post-race technical inspection.

That was the case Saturday night at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. After the Steel Head Late Model Championship feature ended, a protest was a lodged. The resulting inspections led to the disqualification of the top two finishers.

That moved third place finisher Ronnie Johnson to the victory, giving him the $3,000 payday for winning the special event.

Mario Gresham moved to second, with Dawsonville, GA’s Matthew Turner in third, Jacob Grizzle in fourth and Chuck Padgett in fifth.

Michael Brewer, Randy Dillard, Bob Johnson, Chris Fennell and Clifton Moran rounded out the top ten.

The feature wasn’t without on-track excitement, including two spectacular crashes during the night. One occurred when Austin Horton took a wile ride up the frontstretch wall, coming down in a shower of sparks.

The second took place going into the first turn, when Matt Larson made hard contact with the inside wall, sending his car airborne. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries from either shunt.
