Ray Cook made the trip from Brasstown, NC to take the pole in Saturday night’s Super Late Model feature at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA and went on to lead the way to the feature win in the track’s annual Spring Championships.

Cook took the lead at the drop of the green and looked to be setting sail for the checkered flag. Problems arose later in the feature, as lapped traffic began to slow down the leader, letting Jason Hiett pull up the threaten for the lead. Hiett made several attempts to pass getting his nose up the Cook’s door, but was never able to complete the pass. Meanwhile, Todd Morrow and Dale Thurman both made their way up to the leaders with Morrow pressing Hiett for the second spot.

With the White flag thrown, Cook navigated his way around a lapped car. The slower car began to hold up Hiett and Morrow. The faster car of Hiett spun the slower car, bringing out the caution and setting up a green-white-checkered finish.

Cook took the lead at the restart with Hiett in second. Morrow, running third, spun off turn two after contact with Tyler Millwood. Cook went on to score the win, with Hiett in second, Morrow in third, Thurman in fourth and Jason Coft in fifth.

In other action, Jacob Grizzle threaded his way through lapped traffic to take the Steel Head Late Model feature victory. Mario Gresham followed in second trailed by Chris Fennell in third, Clifton Moran in fourth and Matt Dooley in fifth.

Justin Shipley grabbed the lead in the Crate Late Model feature and never looked back, as he drove away to score the win. Matt Black gave chase but had to settle for second. Fifteen-year-old Aston Winger, in his first ever race, followed in third. Hunter Jones finished third with Drew Deaver in fifth.

The Super Bomber feature was a thriller, as pole sitter Randall Powell and Scottie Pritchett, who started at the tail, ran side-by-side over the closing laps for the win. The fight raged until the final turn on the last lap, when Pritchett pulled ahead for the win. Powell settled for second followed by Kenny Taylor in third, Daniel Brewer in fourth and Brant Harding in fifth.

Austin Smith led wire to wire for the Economy Bomber feature win , with John Davis, Dan Meadows, Doug Ellis and Brent Beard rounding out the top five.

Bo Jordan, Dan Bennett and Jamie Cross battled so close for the Pony Stock feature win that you could have thrown a blanket over them. Jordan held the lead most of the way until Cross and Bennett managed to get move past him. Cross would go on the take the win, with Bennett in second and Jordan third. J.J. Garrett finished in fourth, followed by Jeremy Ray in fifth.

Edwin Scott garnered his first win of the year in the Cruiser Championship after the apparent winner was disqualified in post race tech. This moved Randy Ledford to second, Brian Dempsey to third, Jimmy Wilson to fourth, and John Sexton to fifth.
