Chris Jones made the most of the first appearance of his car owner, Joe Nash’s familiar No. 17 Modified Street racer Saturday night at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.

Despite the venerable car having a new look with a fresh electric blue paint scheme, Jones showed the power under the hood is the same, as he drove to the team’s first victory of the season.

Jones started the night by winning the first modified street heat, insuring a front row starting position. Jones started alongside David Archer, who came into the feature undefeated in the division on the year. Jones quickly jumped ahead on the drop of the green, taking the early lead.

Second row starter Chris Cape hounded Jones, closing the distance lap after lap. But he ran out of laps before he could make a pass, as Jones scored the win. Cape finished in second, with Justin Sims in third, Thomas Segars in fourth and Kole Hardy in fifth.

In other action, Jimmy Johnson held off Keith Freeman to score the Limited Late Model feature victory. Drew Collins finished in third, with Chris Woods in fourth and Bubba Russell in fifth.

Frankie Beard topped the SECA Late Model field to pick up the win. Danny Sanders was second, followed by Adam Partain in third, Payton Freeman in fourth and Grant Jordan in fifth.

Mart Patterson proved to be the man to beat in the Hobby Stock feature, with Chris Page in second, Chris McKeehan third, Mark Parham fourth and Scott Kennedy fifth.

George Fortson scored the win in the Stock V8 feature. Joey Kelly, Cal Moon, Rocky Jones and Ray Foskey rounded out the top five.

In Stock Four action, Mason Tucker outdistanced Jeremy Hicks to pick up the victory. David Roberts was third, with Shane Strickland in fourth and Dustin Bales in fifth.

Aaron Limbaugh was the first across the finish line for the Up Front feature win. Joel Powell, Sr. ran second, followed by Wayne Chapman, Jr. in third, Josh Williams in fourth and Jerry Moser in fifth.

Hartwell Speedway will host another full racing program this Saturday night, including action in the Limited Late Model, SECA Late Model, Hobby, Modified Street, Stock V8, Stock 4 and Up Front divisions.
