CORDELE, GA – Stuart Dutton raced from the second starting spot, and powered his way to his fourth Georgia For Fair Tax/Summit Racing Outlaw Late Model Series feature victory of the season at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA Saturday night.

Luke Christian led the field to green, and jumped out to the early lead over Dutton. The first caution of the night flew on lap six for a spin by David Hodges and Alex Leverette.

On the restart Dutton and Christian raced door to door down the front, with Dutton moving to the inside under Christian down the back stretch. Dutton was able to clear Christian off turn four to move to the lead.

Meanwhile Blake Gaither and Chris Tullis were waged battle for the fourth position. The two got together on lap 14 in turn one, sending both spinning. Gaither’s car went off into the grass off turn 2, as Watermelon Capital Speedway has no outside retaining wall from turn two to turn four. Tullis came to a stop in turn two, blocking the track as Leverette and Mike Silvey raced side-by-side into the crash scene off turn 1. Leverette and Silvey both spun, slamming into Tullis. All three cars were severely damaged, with Tullis and Silvey’s nights coming to an end.

Back under green, Sutton continued to lead, with Christian in second, Chris Dilbeck in third, Steve Barker in fourth and David Hodges in fifth. Hodges would see his night see a set back when he slowed and entered the pits on lap 20.

Meanwhile, Dutton held on to the lead, and went on to score the victory, allowing him to stretch his division points lead to seven over Dilbeck with one race left in the season.

Christian, Dilbeck, Gaither and Steve Barker rounded out the top five.

Other winners on the night included Billy Nipper in Super Streets, Dusty Stafford in Enduros, James Pennington in Mini Stocks, Woodrow Mullis in Legends, Lee Hodges in Bandoleros, Joseph Pilato in Pro Challenge, Joey More in Stock/Flat Head Go Karts, Scott Stroup in Economy Go Karts and Jeremy Moore in Modified Go Karts.

Watermelon Capital Speedway wraps up their 2014 season on Oct. 25, with action from the Outlaw Late Models and the other local divisions. For more info, visit WatermelonCapitalSpeedway.com.
