WILLIAMSTON, SC – R.A. Brown wrestled the lead away from Randy Porter around lap 30 of Friday night’s Big O Dodge 100 Late Model Stock race at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC.

Brown then had to work hard over the closing laps to hold of NASCAR Whelen All American Series Division points leader Anthony Anders to score the win in the 5th annual Rupert Porter Memorial Shrine Race.

For Brown, it’s the second straight victory in the race, held in honor track builder and owner Rupert Porter, who passed away in 2009. Brown turned in the fastest time in qualifying, but a die roll left him starting in fifth position.

Anders held on to finish in second after charging his way through the field from the 15th starting position.

Randy Porter led the opening laps of the event, but eventually settled for third place. Neil Meredith finished in fourth, with Marietta, GA’s Kyle Plott in fifth.

Kenneth Headen, David Roberts, defending division champion Justin Sorrow, Dylan Hall and Kason Plott rounded out the top ten.

Douglasville, GA’s Casey Tucker wasn’t even on the track for the initial BM Modified start, as his team had trouble with his car. But a crash on the initial start reset the field, and with the field having not completed a lap, Tucker was able to join the race at the back of the field.

On the restart, Tucker began pushing his way through the field to the lead, and went on to score the feature victory. Adam Satterfield finished second, with Taylor Mitchell in third, Zach Dillon in fourth and Trevor Sanders in fifth.

David Darnell scored the win in the Mini-Stocks feature, with Chad Campbell in second, Jimmy Burgess in third, Luke Sorrow in fourth and Ben Kay in fifth.

Justin Ashley held off a hard charge from Rex Brown to score the US Legends feature victory. Cory Parham finished in third, with Julia Landauer in fourth and Karl Moberg in fifth.

In Renegades action, Steve Gutherie beat out Shawn Campbell for the feature victory. Andrew Cordell, Chad Watt and Chris Whitfield rounded out the top five.

Ted Somero came home with the Super Renegades feature win. Michael Mote finished in second, with Don Morgan in third, Blake Galloway in fourth and Jamie McCall in fifth.

Brian King scored the victory in the Front Wheel Drive feature. C.J. Huitt crossed the finish line in second, with Scott Parker in third, Chris Harvell in fourth and Ray Mullinax in fifth.

Anderson Motor Speedway will hold their final points race of the season on Sept. 19. For more info, visit AndersonMotorSpeedway.com.
