ROUGEMONT, NC – CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series championship points leader Caleb Holman out dueled Coleman Pressley in the final 20 laps to win his second race of the season at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC.

With the win Holman extended his points lead over the competition, and gained an all-important bonus point toward his totals when the championship series begins on September 6 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC.

“I sure hope all these fans enjoyed it because from my vantage point it looked pretty good,” explained an excited Caleb Holman in Victory Lane after the race. “There was some real good racing tonight. These guys know how to beat and bang you without spinning you out and that’s how you’re supposed to race. It’s tough to pass here because you can run side by side all the way around, but eventually I was able to get around Coleman (Pressley) there at the end. A big thanks goes out to Food Country USA and this entire Henderson Motorsports race team for their support.”

Pressley finished second keeping his average finish this season at 1.5 after winning in his only other start this season on April 5 at Hickory. South Carolina youngster Gus Dean continued to impress by rounding out the podium. Dean has the second best average finish this season and sits fifth in the standings despite missing one event.

Holman took the lead from his second place starting position on lap one and held on to the top spot until the competition caution on lap 100 for the halfway break. The Virginia driver didn’t fare well with the series redraw of the top eight positions at the break, moving his ride back to sixth and handing the lead to fellow veteran Brian Keselowski as the field went back to green flag racing.

Keselowski would go on to lead the next 27 laps before an oil leak relegated the part time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver to a tenth place finish. From there former series champion Benny Gordon would take command of the field on lap 128. Gordon gave an early indication he might be the guy to beat, but Pressley and Holman flexed their muscles on lap 166, setting up a classic short track racing battle amongst the two.

Doing all he could Pressley maintained the race lead for the next seventeen laps with Holman all over him lap after lap. Finally with sixteen laps to go Holman ruffled Pressley’s feathers and set sail to victory.

Pressley finished in second, with Dean third. Benny Gordon finished in fourth, while Watkinsville, GA’s Brady Boswell rounded out the top five.

Next up for the X-1R Pro Cup Series is the Food Country USA 200 presented by KOMA Uwind at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, VA on Saturday August 9. For more information, visit carsprocup.com.
