HAMPTON, GA – Front running drivers redeemed themselves in week eight of Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder summer short track racing series after multiple divisions saw first time winners this season in last week’s action.

In the combined Allred Family Dentistry Semi-Pro and Young Lions feature, Amber Fleeman paced the field to the green flag. Woodrow Mullis moved to the inside and William Martin followed behind as the pair got past Fleeman in turn four on the fourth lap to move to the front of the field. A caution bunched up the field on the 14th lap. R.S. Senter took the lead after he beat Mullis to the inside of turn one after he started on the outside on the restart. Senter then held off Mullis for the final six laps of the feature for his sixth win of the season in the Allred Family Dentistry Semi-Pro division. Mullis earned the win in the Young Lions Division.

Hannah Bell paced the field to the green flag in the 15th Street Pizza and Pub Outlaws feature. Division leader Jensen Jorgensen wasted no time as he moved from the inside of the second row to the front of the field on the first lap. Chase Purdy finished second as he remained glued to the back bumper of Jorgensen throughout the remainder of the race but could not make a move to get to the front.

The Estes Services Masters feature started with Bill Plemons, Jr. at the front. He led until a caution came out on lap 14 that bunched up the field. Scott Moseley restarted to the outside of Plemons and was able to move to the front of the field as the pair battled door-to door down the backstretch.

“You really got to work the wheel because it loose out here when starting from the outside lane,” said Moseley. “I really have to thank Bill (Plemons, Jr.), I think he was real easy on me and gave me a bunch of room out there.”

Moseley held off the rest of the field over the four laps including Skip Nichols who finished second. Nichols wove his way through the field but could not get past Moseley as he started from the seventh position.

Chandler Smith continued his dominance in the Bandits division with his eighth consecutive feature win. Smith started in the back of the field but found an opening on the first lap and drove to the front. Smith dove to the inside of the racetrack in turn two as he was able to follow Lawson Ingold through a hole and then slipped past him on the backstretch for the lead. Despite multiple cautions throughout the race that bunched up the field, Smith was able to drive away from the field each time and earn the win.

In a spirited race in the Beginner Bandolero feature, a late race caution allowed Samuel Oliver to pick up the win. George Hayes finished second while Wilder Etheredge earned a third-place finish.

Don Maness paced the field to the green flag in the W.J. Plemons III and Associates Group Insurance Inc. Pro feature. Will Martin drove around Maness and held the lead for the first half of the race. Martin could not hold off a hard-changing William Plemons III on lap 14 and relinquished the lead. Woodrow Mullis followed Plemons on the inside line and scooted to second, which pushed Martin back to third. Mullis wasted no time and powered past Plemons on the next lap to take a lead he would not relinquish. Mullis captured the checkered flag despite starting at the rear of the field.

Competitors will return to the track this week with another opportunity to collect points in the battle for the Thursday Thunder season championship.
