Late Race Pass Gives Couch Second Hartwell Victory

HARTWELL, GA – Brent Couch made a late race pass in Saturday’s Stock Four Cylinder feature to score his second victory of the season at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.

Couch started the race alongside South Carolina driver Harley Holden, and at the drop of the green Holden would take the early lead with Couch glued right to his bumper. Lap after lap Couch would pull alongside Holden trying to complete the pass, but Holden would manage to power ahead on the straightaways each time. Finally, on lap seven of the ten lap feature, Couch would drop to the inside of Holden and emerge with the lead as the duo pulled out of turn four. For the remaining few laps Couch would maintain a consistent line around the as he drove to the win.

Holden held on for second, with Jeffery Lord in third, Cy Strickland in fourth and Ryan Boles in fifth.

In other action, David McCoy held off Brandon “Cornbread” Haley for another Limited Late Model feature win. Keith Freeman came home in third, with Brant Carey in fourth and Stephen Segars in fifth.

Frankie Beard scored his second straight SECA Late Model victory. Ashley Poole rolled home in second, with Chris Cape in third, Greg Pilgram in fourth and Tim Elrod in fifth.

Rod Roberts picked up the win in the Hobby Stock feature, with Robin Collins, Mike Davidson, Brad Russell and Rusty King rounding out the top five.

In Modified Street action, Rusty Jordan beat out Kole Hardy for the victory. Clifton Snow ran third, with Jennifer Everret in fourth and Jeremy Jones in fifth.

Keith Teasley topped the field for the Stock V8 win. Ricky Mauldin finished in second, with Cal Moon in third, Terry Brown in fourth and Rocky Jones in fifth.

Payton Freeman scored the Young Guns feature win, followed by Adam Partain, Jonathan Cheeseman and Mallarey Burdette.

Jackie Holden took top honors in the Up Front feature. Wayne Chapman came home in second, with Daniel Reynolds in third, Travis Barbare in fourth and J.J. Sorrow in fifth.
