HAMPTON, GA – Rain shortened the race action on the quarter-mile “Thunder Ring” in Week Six of Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The remaining feature races that were not completed have been postponed and are scheduled to be run as double-features in Week Seven.

Ashton Winger of Fayetteville earned his first feature win of the season in the 15th Street Pizza and Pub Outlaw Division. Winger started in the 8th position and slowly worked his way through the field before he slipped to the inside of Chase Purdy of Gallion, AL in turn four to take the lead on lap eight. Along with Purdy, Winger held off Jensen Jorgensen of Stockbridge as well as Joshua Hicks of Senoia for the win.

Chandler Smith of Talking Rock continued his dominance in the Bandits division with his sixth feature win of the season. It took Smith just two laps to move to the front of the field. Connor Younginer of Stockbridge got loose out of turn four, which left an opening for Smith to move to the inside and take the lead. Smith then rode to the win and added to his points lead over second-place Younginer by 29 points.

The Estes Services Masters Division feature race was shortened by rain. Skip Nichols of Albany earned the win and moved back into the top spot in the division with 575 points. Bill Plemons, Jr. entered the race in first with 484 points and is now three points off the lead after his fifth place finish.

Nichols jumped into the lead in the feature race on a second lap pass of Mark Swan of Dunwoody in turn four after he started on the inside of the second row. With the race under caution due to a spin in the back of the pack when the rain began, the Nichols earned the win as he led the race under the last green flag lap.
