It was another wild night of short track action at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC Friday night, as Anthony Anders and Justin Sorrow split the two 40 lap Late Model Stock features in a carnage filled night in the Upstate.

In the first 40 lap Late Model feature, R.A. Brown battled with Anders for several laps for the top spot. Anders was able to finally get the nose of his racer under Brown as the duo raced into lap traffic. Brown’s car was forced into the outside wall just under flagstand, ending his night. Anders raced on to score the victory, with Marietta, GA racer Joe Wilder making the long haul to finish in second. David Roberts finished in third, with Dylan Smith in fourth and Kenneth Headen in fifth.

During the break between the two Late Model Stock features, the true racing spirit was seen throughout the garage area, as teams with damaged cars worked together, sharing tools and helping each other to get back on track.

It worked, as all 18 cars rolled on the track for the second 40 lap feature.

Under green, David Roberts and Justin Sorrow battled back and forth for the top spot for 15 laps. Meanwhile, Anders and Wilder were looking to contend, but had an on-track altercation that sent both drivers to the rear of the field.

Back up front, it was Sorrow that moved solidly to the lead. The Belton, SC driver went on to score the victory. Roberts finished in second, with Eric Stokes, making his first AMS starts in third, the same position he placed in the first feature. Smith finished fourth with Headen in fifth.

In other actions, the BM Modified feature saw a lot of carnage, with several torn up race cars by the end of the race. Matt Meyer stayed out of trouble to score the win. Douglasville, GA’s Casey Tucker finished in second, with Tim Stokes, Alan Mitchell and Taylor Marshall rounding out the top five.

In the U.S. Legends feature, Concord, NC’s Riley Halverson battled with Anderson’s Kevin Ellison and Gainesville, GA’s Paul Kelley for the win. In the end, it was Halverson scoring the victory, with Ellison in second, Kelley in third, Rex Brown in fourth and Lee Jordan in fifth.

In Renegades action, Anthony Cordell topped the field to score the feature victory. Steve Guthrie came home in second, with Troy Carnes in third, Chris Whitfield in fourth and Jamie McCall in fifth.

Former Front Wheel Drive track champion Tommy Davis rounded out the night with his first feature win of the season. Jack Hooper finished in second, followed by Brian King in third, Chris Harvell in fourth and Donovan Beacham in fifth.
