Nosbisch Goes 6-For-7 In Late Models At East Bay

Keith Nosbisch outran the weather and a strong Late Model field Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL to score his sixth feature win in seven starts at the famed “Clay By The Bay”.

Nosbisch started out the night by winning his head race, while Shan Smith scored the win in his heat. For the feature it would be Steve Miller and Dave Schmauss making up the front row. Schmauss would take the lead early, but a lap one spin by Sheryl Cochran brought out the first caution. Back under green, Schmauss held the lead with Josh Peacock and Travis Varnadore trailing him. Nosbisch charged early, as he powered into the lead on lap two. Nosbisch went on to win his sixth feature of the 2013 Season. Dave Schmauss finished in second, with Josh Peacock in third, Steve Miller in fourth and Wallace Peacock in fifth.

In other action, the first feature of the night went to the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks. Winning their heats were Buck Woodhouse and William Burnside. Woodhouse would find himself on the outside front row alongside pole winner Mike Wilson. Wilson would lead the first four laps until Woodhouse until Wilson made his way to the lead. A spin by William Edwards interrupted the action, drawing the first caution of the event. Woodhouse would continue to lead the way until Edwards brought out the second caution stopping in turn one ending his night as he took his car to the pits. On the final restart Woodhouse found himself holding off the William Burnside and his brother Thomas Burnside for the lead. Woodhouse would prevail in the end, as he scored the win. Thomas Burnside finished in second, with Jarod Gay in third, William Burnside in fourth and Brian Morgan in fifth.

The next feature would be the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Winning their heats were George Handy and Kayla Jones. For the feature it would be Patrick Fiore, Sr. and Brett Calonge making up the front row. Fiore, Sr. would lead the first lap but by only a half a car length over John Moore. Jimmy Baker found his way up to the top spot as he bypassed Fiore, Sr. and Moore by lap four. He would go on to win his third feature of the 2013 Season. Rounding out the top five were George Handy, Patrick Fiore, Sr., John Moore and Brett Calonge.

Up next were the V8 Warriors. Winning their heats were Raymond Vann and Marco Reyes. Making up the front row of the feature were Brett Phillips and Don Foligno. Foligno would lead the first four laps until caution came out on lap four as Tim Stoffel stopped in turn two. The green waved once again with Foligno leading the way until Jeff Weaver took over the top spot. Caution would soon come out as Bill Whitney spun in turn four and ended up with a right rear flat ending his night. On the final restart it was Weaver going on to win but was dq’d in tech for a cylinder head violation. That moved Raymond Vann to the win, with Jessica Robbins in second, Don Foligno in third, Marco Reyes in fourth and Brett Phillips in fifth.

The final feature of the night belonged to the ladies. It was the Powder Puff race in the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers. Starting on the front row was Michelle Valdes and Kendra Quinn. Row two would be Cindy Bliss with Connie Humfield alongside. Rounding out the field would be defending Powder Puff winner Angela Bryant. The race went caution free with Valdes battling Bryant for the lead. The ladies would battle until the last lap in turn two, when Bryant made a move to the inside to take the lead. She went on to pick up the victory. Rounding out the top five were Michelle Valdes, Kendra Quinn, Connie Humfeld and Cindy Bliss.
