Danny Lasoski survived a wild finish in Sunday night’s World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series main event to win for the 20th time of his career at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL in the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Lasoski, of Dover, MO, was running third when leader Chad Kemenah was penalized two positions on a restart with three laps to go in the 30-lap race, then second-place running Cody Darrah headed to the pits with a flat left front tire, moving Lasoski to the point. Lasoski held off a determined Kemenah to win a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature at Volusia for the second consecutive season.

“You had to keep your nose clean; everything was happening so fast,” Lasoski said. “The race track actually widened out where you can run top, bottom and middle, and that’s all we can ask for.”

Kasey Kahne Racing’s Daryn Pittman was the overall champion of the sprint car week at the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment. Pittman was the only driver to post top-five finishes in all three events, including a victory on Friday night.

In DIRTcar UMP Modified action, Eldora Speedway regular Matt Westfall held off Ken Schrader in a 20-lap feature event to earn a guaranteed spot in Monday’s Gator Championship. In addition to Westfall and Schrader, Dale Mathison, Justin Allgaier and Kenny Wallace also locked themselves into the Gator Championship by finishing in the top five on Sunday night.

“I qualified good enough to put it on the front row,” said Westfall, of Pleasant Hill, Ohio. “The track was fast tonight and difficult to pass. It reminded me of Eldora Speedway where we usually run.”

The second week of racing at the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment begins Monday with the Gator Championship for DIRTcar UMP Modifieds as well as the beginning of dirt late model week featuring DIRTcar Late Models. Gates open at 5 pm with warm-ups at 6 pm and heat races beginning at 7:30 pm.
