Sometimes, things aren’t always what they seem, especially in racing.

For example, last Wednesday night at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA, it appeared that Cody Haskins had easily scored his ninth straight Truck feature victory.  After celebrating in victory lane, his No. 38 truck was pushed to the GMP Tech Center for post race inspection.

That’s where things got interesting, as track officials confiscated the engine from his No. 38 Chevrolet in post-race tech.  Track competition director Micky Cain said the power plant would be taken to the GMP Research and Development Center in Nicholson, GA for further evaluation.

A couple of days later, the announcement came down: Haskins truck was disqualified, handing the win over to second place finisher Jim Wall.

The win hadn’t come easy for Wall, either, who had to come back from two incidents during the event.  On the start of the feature on Wednesday, Kristen Wallace jumped to the lead, with Haskins trailing in second.

The first caution came out on lap five, when Wall tipped Conrad Compton in turn three.  Compton was able to continue.

On the restart, the leaders went three wide, with Haskins powering to the lead on the outside.

The second caution of the night flew when Wallace spun off the second turn, collecting Emilee Riley, Wall, and Aaron Calvert.  Everyone was able to drive away.

The third caution flew on lap 27, when Compton spun in oil from Joel Townsend’s truck.

On the final restart, Haskins again checked out, and went on to be flagged the winner by a margin of over two and a half seconds.  Wall finished second, with Andy Gaddis in third, Compton in fourth, and Calvert in fifth.
