Casey Smith led the field for the final practice session prior to qualifying for the 28th annual World Crown 300 Super Late Model feature at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia Friday afternoon.

Smith turned a lap at 16.454, 109.396 mph to top the scoring chart in the fifth and final SLM practice session.  Daniel Hemric, who was fastest in Thursday’s session, was second in that session, with Bubba Pollard third, Ross Kenseth fourth and Chris Wimmer fifth.

Kenzie Ruston paced the fourth practice round with the fastest Super Late Model lap of the day, turning a lap at 16.432, 109.542 mph.  She was followed by Pollard, Andy Loden, Ross Kenseth and Erik Jones.

Heath Hindman turned the fastest lap in the third session with a 16.436, 109.038 mph.  Austin Theriault was second, followed by Stephen Nasse, Mike Garvey and Chris Wimmer.

In the second practice session, it was Pollard on top of the scoring pylon with a 16.470, 109.290 mph.  Nasse was second, with Cale Gale third, Garvey fourth and Jones fifth.

Nasse led the opening session of practice Friday morning with a lap at 16.584, 108.538 mph.  Gale, Donnie Wilson, Jones and Ruston rounded out the top five.

While Thursday’s practice sessions went off without a hitch, the same could not be said for Friday’s sessions.  Steven Dorer looped his car twice during the day, but did not damage the car either time.

Not as lucky was Acworth, Georgia’s T.J. Reaid, who spun his No. 41 on the first lap of the final practice session, making contact with the outside wall to the left front of his machine.  He limped back to the pits, trailing sparks.

The Super Late Models are slated to return to the track at 7 pm this evening for qualifying for the 28th annual World Crown 300 Sunday feature, with the top 25 advancing on time.
