Dixie Speedway, Others Ready For Dry Race Weekend

After working hard to clean up and repair damage from Monday’s area storms, officials at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia have announced that they plan to race as usual on Saturday night.

It’s one of several tracks returning to action after a scary and stormy beginning to the week.  Fortunately, with no residual rain showers in the forecast for this weekend, race fans can look forward to a great weekend of action on their local tracks, and to a big showdown for the race to get into the championship chase for NASCAR at Richmond, Virginia.

Here’s a look at some of the action slated for this weekend at a track near you:

Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC returns to action with a very special race on Friday, Sept. 9, as AMS hosts the second annual Rupert Porter Memorial Shrine Race, presented by the Anderson Jockey Lot, featuring a 100 lap Late Model event plus regular racing in all AMS divisions. Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia is slated to return to action on Friday, Sept. 9, with a full program of racing on tap.  For more information, visit www.boydsspeedway.net.

-It’s a busy week for the WERA Motorcycle Racers.  September 9/10/11 finds Round #6 of the WERA National Endurance Series, the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series and the Pirelli/WERA Sportsman Series headed into Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, AL. -The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finally reaches the cut off for the Chase To The Cup, as the tour roars into Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia for the Wonderful Pistachios 400 on Saturday night.  The Nationwide Series does battle at Richmond Friday night in the Virginia 529 College Savings 250.  The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will run the rain delayed Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, SC on Saturday, Sept. 10.  The NASCAR Whelen Modified Series travels to Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, CT on Sunday for the UNOH Showdown.  For more information, visit www.nascar.com.
